Alec Torelli is one of the up and coming stars in the world of poker. For years, he has been grinding it out online and in tournaments overseas.  He was just 15 when he started playing poker. One summer day when his friend was hosting a poker game, he invited him over to play and Alec won 12 dollars. From then on, he was hooked.

Even though he went off to college, he found he was hardly attending class. He felt he was at a crucial time in his life and had a chance to do something great. Believing in himself he took a chance at playing professionally. It was something he always wanted to do and he gave it a shot.

He realized he is a heads up no limit holdem specialist. Although he prefers cash games over tournaments because he feels there is more skill involved and cash games are much more flexible.

We asked what his most memorable experiences have been in poker and he shared, “I’ve had a lot of great times in poker. I’ve been very fortunate to win several tournaments, make WSOP and WPT final tables and be a big winner in cash games. However, to pinpoint one of these accomplishments as the “most memorable” is very difficult and rather vain. To me, what stands out the most is what poker has taught me about life and the things it has allowed me to do. I have been able to travel to over 25 countries, meet some of the most amazing people and do some incredible things. That far outweighs the bracelet that I have or could ever win.”

Alec is excited to be part of Team Victory and feels the team has an opportunity to do something great and make a positive impact not only in the poker world, but in all of sports. “I think our team is the best ever formed. We are what the future of poker wants to be. Every 16 year old playing poker in their mother’s basement wants to have our life. That’s pretty powerful when you stop to think about it. We have made that dream a reality for ourselves. Now we have that opportunity to do that for others and that is pretty damn exciting.”

Alec made big news in 2007 when he won the FTOPS III Main Event. He outlasted a field of over 3,000 players to win the title and $288,001. He then took center stage at the 2008 WSOP when he made it to the final table of the $10k NL Heads Up Championship. He finished second for $336,896 and cashed in another event shortly after. But it was the Festa Al Lago WPT event where he really made his mark by winning both the $3k and $5k events consecutively. Then, back to back WPT final tables (WPT Bellagio and then Bratislava, both 4th place).  He also placed 6th in the WSOP 40k and 2nd in both the 10k HU WSOP and Australia.
